Neil Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969 after a race to the moon including Germany, Russia and the US the mission lasted 8 days and 3 hours.
In 1962 Kennedy announced that they were going to the moon although he never lived to see this ambition as he was killed in 1963.
I started making the rocket with a cylinder with 16 sides so it was easier to space things, then I made the base shape with the extrude and scale tool to create the cone shaped where the rocket narrows I did this all in one object as to save time when unwrapping then I went into a bit of detail and extruded regions where in my reference it looks a different texture as well as I tiny bit farther out of the rocket, then i started doing small details on the rocket like the sorta triangular parts on the side witch i made using the cut, extrude and chambfer tools then I repeated this at equal intervals around the rocket.
once i finished modeling the rocket i had decided that i didn't like 3ds max all that much and had already looked into blender a decent amount so i decided that i will be using that from now on so i made this platform with the simple key-binds in blender witch is s for scale, i for inset and e for extrude then i also unwrapped this in blender using the auto unwrap feature that is built into blender.
i made the scaffolding the same way i made the platform however i did it going up to create a tower for the scaffolding leading to the rocket both of the things
using substance the same way as we always have by throwing on a fill layer with a black mask then choosing polys that will show are texture then adding stickers in i made the rocket texture that i'm pretty happy with that i made while looking at the rocket reference images at the top of the brief. i also used this for the scaffolding and platform.
over all i feel as though i rushed through the platform and scaffolding even though they do their job they could have been finished a lot better if i had spent more time on it however i only had a short while left until this project was due so i decided to sacrifice the detail in order to get the project finished and on to the blog so that i could start writing about it; if i had more time to improve this i would make it more detailed in the scaffolding and the platform however i would also make small details in the rocket more bold so that they can be more easily seen as you cant really tell the detail i put in with these renders. i feel like i saved a lot of time by getting blender to unwrap everything giving me the time required to texture everything in the detail i wanted.
i redered an animation and uploaded it to youtube using particle systems and base movement ones. over all i done believe that the
