In DAPSO, I am the Copresident. I do more of the internal tasks as president. I plan monthly events and build my network with fellow students and organizations on campus. I set semester goals and meet with our advisor weekly. I also tend to assist in outreach, marketing, and finances. I also help the other Copresident (who does the more external tasks). Overall, I run the organization and try to make an impact on the IUPUI campus and the Indianapolis community.
In W4C, I was a member all four years of college. During my sophomore year, I was the treasurer. I did normal tasks such as keeping track of money. I also communicated with the school when we would like to use our grant money or need help with certain events. I also helped the executive board and overall club the best I could. After my sophomore year, I decided it would be best to step down from the executive board to focus more on DAPSO, however, I am still an active member.
From my junior to senior year, I served as the Vice President of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) at IUI, a chapter I co-founded with the President since no such organization existed at our school. We built the organization from the ground up, planning and organizing impactful events such as educational nights, biology literacy nights, and guest speaker presentations. These events allowed students to practice laboratory skills, expand their knowledge, and prepare for future careers. Watching students grow in confidence and ability through these efforts was incredibly rewarding and contributed to my personal and professional growth as a leader and collaborator.
