The sun was beaming at the start of the day and after several wet sessions our volunteers couldn't believe their luck. It didn't last though, we got absolutely drenched by a brief but heavy shower, just as we were finishing up!
The majority of the woodland was clear from litter, so we spent sometime exploring the new spaces opened up by Newport City Council.
Most of our volunteers are new to identifying and recording species but reference books and apps like LERC Wales, Merlin Bird ID and ObsIdentify make it easier. We think we spotted Bristled Parachute (pictured). What do you think?
