Friends of Rabbit Hill are a constituted community group. The group was established in 2024, after a previous community project they were involved in ended.
The group’s aims are to:
Maintain, create and enhance the Rabbit Hill community woodland to increase biodiversity and make it a safe, accessible place for recreation and enjoyment for the long-term benefit of the local community.
Maintain the community allotment for food production and enjoyment of nature.
The group is made up of volunteers and includes current and previous residents of Duffryn.
Litter picking brings communities together, creating a sense of connection and pride. This can help boost wellbeing, safety and local image.
Volunteers must be age 18 or over.
As the activities we do are outdoors we do ask that you tell us about any pre-existing medical conditions or additional needs that we should be aware of for health and safety or to make reasonable adjustments for your participation.
There is no requirement to attend a full volunteer session, we are grateful for any time you have to give.
Volunteer sessions run most Thursdays, starting at 10am and finishing by 2pm. When you register with us you'll get regular updates on session plans and you can choose which you opt in to. If you'd like to find out more email friendsofrabbithill@gmail.com.
A bit of rain won't put us off! We'll only cancel if there is a weather warning in place.
Be prepared for weather changes! Always bring plenty of water and wear sturdy footwear. If it's sunny wear sun cream and a hat if needed. No matter the season it's often cooler in the woods so we recommend you bring warm and waterproof clothing. We will loan you personal protective equipment (PPE) and any tools required.
We encourage our volunteers to walk, wheel, cycle or use public transport to attend sessions where possible. There are some parking facilities nearby but these are on private land so we recommend you check before leaving your car there.
