No surprises here, our first woodland session of September was pretty wet, but we were grateful for the six volunteers who came to litter pick and tidy the paths. We're always taken aback by how quickly the bracken and brambles take over if we don't keep on top of it!
One of the lovely Play Team Rangers from Duffryn Community Link had litter picked the day before, so the woods were relatively free from litter, but our thorough volunteers scrambled through the brambles to uncover bags of household and nappy waste.
It's a shame how often we find Asda bags for life, full of dirty nappies in the woods.
Newport City Council will collect nappies and hygiene waste every two weeks if you register for this service on their website. Alternatively consider using Newport's reusable cloth nappy service. Cloth nappies can be more environmentally friendly and cheaper than single-use nappies. You can find more information, tips and advice on the Newport Nappy Library Facebook page.
Five bags of litter were picked in total and reported to the council for collection.
