Island Area FWC Field Maps
The SSI FWC webmap (sometimes also called a webGIS) provides an overview of the FWC field data available.
The lefthand side of the webmap window contains drop-down menus which allow various map display options (aka layers) to be toggled on and off:
SSIFWC & WPS Features - FWC field observation sites (and historic province field stations) and island watershed areas
Water & Earth Features - a variety of water related data (wells, springs, geology etc).
Administrative features - LOT boundaries for properties and areas of public land
Basemap(s) - the default OpenStreetMap FWC backdrop map and also satellite and terrain maps
Charts - Surface - containing basic plots of the routine field data collected for various FWC surface measurement sites on the island
Charts - Wells - containing basic plots of the routine field data collected for various FWC well measurement sites on the island.
Note - The SSIFWC webmap map is updated from our FWC cloud database, with new volunteer field data, every 24 hours.
FWC Maps for Island Areas
A variety of higher resolution, larger scale area maps for "active" FWC field areas are available for field work for the various areas of North, Central and South island. These island area maps, more "local (area) detail" and island overview maps include LiDAR, geological/fault and other useful interpretive backdrops.
If you would like to have direct (live) access to our island freshwater data in the field, via a geographic user interface (QField) on a smartphone, please contact the SSIFWC Project Lead.
