VOLUNTEERS - FIELD NOTES
- *PLEASE ADHERE TO BC COVID-SAFE AND OTHER RELEVANT FIELDWORK PROTOCOLS -
Field Notes - providing volunteers with useful hints and tips on our field equipment, using our FWC field app, accessing and leveraging our cloud database (web maps, and charting), and what to record.
FWC Field Work - starting up?
The "Field Notes" pages give information on field procedures and what observations to record in the field notebook, providing:
Guidelines on setting up the SSIFWC field data collection "V3" App
Information on the SSIFWC "V3" App new features
SSIFWC Webmap on-line access to some of our SSI field area data (and other freshwater data)
Notes on what field equipment is available
What flow measurements work in the field
Watershed field codes used for linking field site data to a specific watershed
Where to go to borrow an Oakton (from an Oakton host)
Oakton re-calibration procedures (ideally done before each field visit)
In addition we encourage field note book users to capture (and share) their perspectives of what exactly "is" our SSI freshwater. On this page some lovely, contemplative, in the field watershed musings and/or doodles!
Note - field musings are encouraged - this project and field work are above all else supposed to be fun! If you have any suitable musings send them to the SSIFWC Project Lead for posting on this page.
These volunteer Field Note webpages are accompanied by a series of “Homeoffice”, providing information on everything from how our project works, to our FWC volunteer needs, and project field data “housekeeping” guidelines.
Field sketches courtesy of our FWC volunteers, and from in-field training & educational sessions!
