Articles
An article always needs a TITLE
They must catch and keep the reader’s interest and attention
They tend to be interactive and ‘converse’ with the readers
The writer often refers to their own personal experiences
The language needs to be either descriptive, narrative or discursive or a combination.
They can contain headings.
Register: Use neutral/informal language. You don't need to be extra-formal, some degree of informality is acceptable (but do not be too informal either). [idioms and phrasal verbs can be used. Don't overdo it, though].
the register will vary depending on the instructions (who is going to read your article? Your classmates? Will it be published in a newspaper?)
Interact with the reader by asking them questions.
Use descriptive language to make your text attention-grabbing: interesting adjectives, adverbs, descriptive verbs, idioms…
GRAPHIC ORGANISER
PARAGRAPH 1: EXPLAIN WHAT YOUR ARTICLE IS GOING TO BE ABOUT- (the reader should know from the start what you are going to be dealing with)
