The Five were a cabal of five Archmagis that reached their height around the end of the Golden Empire wars. They were responsible for the creation of the Fortu as well as the Linking Ward of Nureyev.
Rhysmaeon (now dead)
Kheldar (lost in dream)
Falstaff (sleeping the Odin sleep)
Centaraan (now dead)
Nureyev is an eternal creature that first entered the current Epoch during the early days of Tharuden. He resided for a long time in Tharuden working with the God-King. He fought for the city of Koreth during the War against the Golden Empire. He was one of The Five that created The Linking Ward as well as the Fortu. When Rhysmaeon looked to be about to betray The Five he created the form of Sigmund to hide in and was subsequently suspended in time for a long period.
In the previous Era Sigmund resurfaced and over time Nureyev as well manifested as an alternate form of Sigmund. It is said that in the Fourth Epoch Nureyev existed as well and was one of the few Builders to transition to the current Epoch but retain some awareness of his "past". Some even say that his history extends as far back as the Third Epoch.
Rhysmaeon was an Archmagi who was one of The Five.
Rhysmaeon was also trapped in time when the Linking Ward was frozen and emerged in the 4th Era not long after Sigmund did. He was killed soon after in a pitched battle against the heroes known as "Shapeshifters"
Kheldar and Falstaff where Chronomancers who were born in the 4th Era but travelled back to the 3rd Era, where they were members of The Five.
When Rhysmaeon betrayed the rest of The Five, Kheldar and Falstaff escaped back to the 2nd Era through time.
Soon following their return Kheldar took a long walk into dream (accompanied by the Research Fortu Pentos) on a mysterious mission and has never been seen from since.
After returning to the 4th Era, Falstaff was seriously drained and has since drifted into the Odinsleep. He is clearly still alive but none know when he will awaken.
Centaraan (also known as Rhanouin Shadow-Walker) was an Archmagi who had studied with Nureyev in Tharuden in the early days of the 3rd Era. At some point Centaraan had become consumed by a powerful Raver, and the resulting being had retreated to the outer planes but would occasionally return to the Prime to wreak havoc. He was eventually killed by "Shapeshifters" during the 4th Era.
Logos was a "son" of Kheldar and at one point was being groomed as a replacement for Centaraan in The Five. The group fell apart though before that could ever become a reality and Logos' whereabouts have been unknown for thousands of years now.
