Fortu Central

The Fortu are a race of beings of stone, steeped in the ancient arcane magics and possessing of terrible abilities.  Abilities which they use in the service of humans and other denizens of the Prime Material Plane.

Some say they were originally created as servants by the archmagis of a prior era, and only got their freedom through a revolt led by one of their own.  Others say they were empty vessels crafted to channel the spirits of a deeper reality that existed before this one.  Spirits who were came from outside this reality but were dedicated to supporting and defending it.  And others still just know them as the plumbers and guardians of reality and take them for granted.  Whatever people believe, their numbers are small but their effect runs deep to the core of the world.
