Fortu History

Fortu have a long history and both the origin of the race, as well as the origin of most individuals in it, began in the 3rd Era (more then 10,000 years by human counting).

Most Fortu active on the Prime today were created by The Five, a cabal of five Archmagis that reached their height around the end of the Golden Empire wars.  When The Five collapsed due to internal strife it left a vacuum for the Fortu. For thousands of years the Fortu were passed from "wielder" to "wielder", linked to as one might link a magic sword.  They developed a reputation as tools, but terrible and powerful tools.

Within the last handful of years the Fortu have changed rapidly, in conjunction with the reappearance of The Linking Ward, which had been isolated for centuries.  Modern Fortu exist more as members of an extremely small but powerful race rather than as tools.  The identity of this race is clarifying as it evolves, but it seems determined that the origin of the Fortu were as tools which defended and strengthened the Prime Reality, and the race is now being guided to assume this same role as a natural function of its existence.

In recent history, additional Fortu had been created as part of the rise of the Gorram, The Liche King.   When the Liche King fell at the end of the 4th Era Gorram's Fortu (as well as his Ward) were integrated into the growing Fortu Racial essence.

Fortu Forms

Fortu are creatures humanoid in form but made of a greyish-white marble like stone. Most Fortu are very small depending on their type but some, especially Guardians, can be quite large.

• Most Ops Fortu are generally between 2'10" and 4' in height and can be stocky in build

• Warrior Ops Fortu can be larger, with Kor'Keth being 4' tall and Galek 10' tall, and are extremely solid in build

• Mentat Fortu are generally between 4' and 6' in height and tend to be thinner and lanky in build

• Guardian Fortu are generally between 6' and 8' in height and are extremely solid in build

Fortu do not have any representation of hair (they appear bald).  Most Fortu have humanoid bodies (though Galek looks like a lizardman).  Although many Fortu identify as a specific gender they do not have any genitalia.  From an elemental perspective Fortu are completely composed of Earth and Dark and have only traces of other elements in them (including a complete lack of Life or Death).

The number of Fortu in the world is still small, but each of these Fortu has one of several specialized forms which confers on them certain powers.

Comparative Sizes

The following are the comparative sizes of a Mage Ops Fortu (3'), a Human (6') and a Guardian (7').  The smallest Fortu is Darius at 2'10".  The tallest Fortu is Galek(10'), while the tallest Guardian is Baldo(8').  In one battle vs a Dragon Sigmund grew (via a Dreamwalking ability) to be 20' tall, but this is a very rare occurrence.
