As the last person to lead a rehearsal, by this time we had already mostly completed all four of our songs as a band. Because of this, I think it would be a good idea to talk through our setlist order for when we do eventually come to perform. I also think it would be a good idea to run through and time this setlist and then focus in on anything we struggled with during the songs and efficiently managing change overs between the songs. This is an important thing to run through as there will be changing of instruments and even tuning between some of our songs.
Drink spills - Could cause damage to equipment and even slipping hazards to those in the room. Food and drink should not be brought out in rehearsal spaces and instead, should be consumed outside of this space to prevent any problems
Cables, bags, cases and equipment on floor/scattered - creates a tripping hazard. Cables should be managed and arranged properly and bags, cases etc. should be all put off to one side and out of the way to prevent anyone from potentially tripping
Volume control - High levels of noise can cause damage to hearing or even complete hearing loss. Band should make sure to either tune down to an appropriate volume level and/or wear some form of hearing protection to prevent any damage.Â
I think that is is a good idea to start with recording our rhythm section, meaning that the bass, guitar and piano parts will all be recorded together in the same space and be split into three individual tracks. This may result in slight bleed, but it should not be noticeable unless you are deliberately trying to focus in on it. We should then record the main vocals with our vocalist on her own in the recording room and layer it over the pre recorded track. Similarly, violin will then be recored in the same way for maximum efficiency. For even further efficiency, we chose the first song that we wrote as a band in order to not have to mic up the entire drum kit. This made it much quicker and much smoother to get through our recording process and will also make it easier for us to complete our final mix due to having less parts to work with and balance out.
