The first of our song choices for the 70s setlist was 'war pigs' by Black Sabbath. In this song we decided to cut out the violin and I took charge of lead vocals for the first time on the course. This was quite a big shift for me as I hadn't done much singing performance before and this was a song that was quite out of my interest range. Overall, I think this song went very well and we were all quite quick to learn the song fully. Before the decision to lock this song into our setlist, our band had a quite productive conversation before our rehearsal time consisting of other suggestions, some of which we all didn't fully agree on. This showed how close we had grown as a band and that we are all willing to listen to each others' thoughts and opinions rather than one 'leader' of the band making all the decisions for us.
Our band's final 70s song was our creative cover of the song 'good luck, babe' by Chappell Roan. We recreated the song and altered its structure to create a funk-style cover. This was our first time messing around with vocal harmonies and sharing the lead between three different singers throughout the duration of a song. This song was definitely the most we have changed since our initial take on it and has grown in quality immensely. Overall, I think the 70s performances really pushed me outside my comfort zone but also helped me to begin developing my vocal skill and confidence while performing.
To help us practice from home, one of our band members used a program at home to record a backing track in order to help us learn the structure of the song better. (insert audio file to the left but idk how u acc do that-)
