Organization Description:

Our mission is to provide academic, career, and financial support to help first-generation, low-income students earn a post-secondary degree or certification and enter the workforce. 

Primary Function: 

Momentum Education is seeking a dedicated intern with a passion for student success and tutoring and teaching. The Student Support Intern will work closely with the High School Manager and Executive Director to support 11th-grade students as they prepare for the PSAT and SAT. The intern will lead tutoring sessions multiple days a week at an assigned high school. This hybrid position is based in Houston, TX and reports to the Executive Director. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead small-group or one-on-one PSAT/SAT tutoring sessions in Math and/or Reading

• Collaborate with the High School Manager to identify student needs and adjust tutoring strategies and student goals accordingly

• Assist with attendance tracking, session documentation, and student progress updates

• Motivate students to complete practice assignments through Khan Academy

• Participate in check-ins and team meetings with Momentum staff

• Communicate professionally with students and staff as needed

• Provide feedback on tutoring sessions to improve program impact

Preferred qualifications: 

• Attending College or College Degree 

• Good writing/communication skills  

• Excellent oral and written communication skills  

• Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
