Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. 

Primary Function: 

The Communications Intern will support all functions of the agency’s Communications Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, content creation, social media calendar management, and occasional assistance with internal graphic design materials. The intern will help amplify the agency’s messaging and brand presence across Greater Houston. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Content Creation  

• Assist in writing and editing copy for social media, newsletters, and email campaigns.  

• Curate and organize engaging content to align with agency goals and branding. Calendar Management  

• Maintain and update the agency’s content calendar to ensure consistent and timely communication.  

• Coordinate with various departments to schedule and plan posts across platforms. Graphic Design (Occasional)  

• Assist with the creation of internal materials such as flyers, handouts, or presentations using tools like Canva. Miscellaneous  

• Attend meetings with the development team.  

• Perform research and administrative tasks at a supervisor's request. 

Preferred qualifications: 

• Majors: Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.  

• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. 

• Experience with social media platforms and content scheduling tools. 

• Basic graphic design skills.  

• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
