Welcome to Fit4Work in the Classroom! We know that its one thing to have an idea to do with kids, and entirely another thing to have the plan to do it. Amanda, Anna and Riley have created lesson plans and activities to help you work on four key functional movements. All of these materials are available for download so that you can adapt them to your environment.
We have 4 lesson plans grounded in physical literacy, linked to materials to help your students build their skills.
Squats in daily life can include: picking up something from the ground, placing something on the floor and are needed to stand from a chair, toilet or getting out of bed.
A Farmer's Carry is used to transport an object using your hand/hands. This movement requires grip strength, core stability, and overall body strength.
A push movement means pushing a movement away
from your body. Push movements are used to walk through a door, push a cart or put on a shelf overhead.
Pull movements can include opening a door/dishwasher or laundry machine.
If you are a therapist bringing this idea to teachers, here is a one pager to help you explain it!
If you downloaded any of these, please let us know your thoughts! This helps us to continue
to create materials to support youth in schools and communities.
