The school’s name is Compañía de María but it is also known as “La Enseñanza”. It is a nursery, primary and secondary school (170 pupils, 28 teachers/staff). It´s settled in the city centre in an old, stone building just behind the town hall.
Compañía de Maria is a religious school with an open-minded attitude to students’ problems and interests. The age of the secondary students involved in the project ranges from 14 to 16.
Most of our students are from Spain. They come from a middle-lower class. In the last 15 years we have received a high number of South America and eastern countries pupils. Our staff works very hard to help them to get used to the school system, Spanish syllabus and in many cases to learn the Spanish language. We have a close relationship with our students´ families in favor of our pupils´ development.
The school focus its aims not only in teaching contents to our students but also in making them aware of social problems, health habits, environmental aspects...
Compañía de María School is a small/medium school in which students, parents, teachers and administrative staff work together to educate our pupils as parts of a big family.
