Balata Comprehensive High School is a secondary and higher education institution with approximately 1,200 students.

Initially a vocational high school, it became comprehensive in 2018 with the reception of its first classes of general training.

The students of the general high school are between 15 and 19 years old, with special cases of 20 years old. 58.8% of pupils are children of manual workers or inactive, 20.4% are white-collar workers, craftsmen, shopkeepers, farmers, 8.4% are middle managers and 4.3% are senior managers and teachers. For 8.1% of students, parents' sources of income areunknown. 

The rate of students eligible for a scholarship is 39.1% while 73.1% reside in QPV (Quartier Politique de la Ville).

Finally, 61.3% of students are girls. Many of these students come from Haitian and Brazilian immigrants and more on the margins of the countries bordering the Guiana plateau.

Activities and experience, skills and/or expertise

Opening to local culture is part of our curriculum. The involved team members will be teachers of foreign languages (Portuguese and English), ICT, history and geography, and political sciences with a large experience on former projects.
