This project was designed to create a larger, more open space tailored to the needs of a growing young family. The family-driven design added a brand-new theater multi-purpose room, and a full bathroom with a luxurious steam shower.
These new spaces add functional versatility and provide opportunities for relaxation and entertainment within the home. The remodel's layout was thoughtfully inspired by the client’s future plans to install an outdoor pool and host more frequent indoor and outdoor dining experiences.
With this vision in mind, the design prioritized seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living areas, creating a home that encourages gatherings, connection, and an easy flow of movement.
The kitchen and great room were the focus of the project. Spaces were opened by removing multiple interior walls and reinforcing the structure with several newly installed beams.
Rearranging some of the space and expanding the kitchen allowed the room to create a more functional mudroom and pantry. This transformation resulted in a more spacious, light-filled communal area, perfect for family life and entertaining guests.
The new space enhances the home's overall feel, making it feel larger and more welcoming. To balance the open layout, a sense of privacy was preserved by designing a separate wing of the house that includes the bathroom, home office, and the new theater room.
The thoughtful spatial arrangement provides flexibility and privacy while supporting the lifestyle the clients envisioned - a dynamic home equally suited for everyday living and special occasions.
