The festival shawl and hat patterns, designed exclusively for Tangled Galashiels Fibre Festival 2024, were both inspired by the Gala Water and the Gala Mill Lade, which played an important part in the rich textile history of Galashiels and the Scottish Borders.

Using an easy, relaxing slip stitch pattern creating beautiful ripples, both accessories are very enjoyable to knit, and are a great opportunity to combine contrasting colours, variegated colours, mini skeins etc...

The Shawl only uses 200g of 4ply / sock / fingering weight yarn (100g / 400m of each colour), and the hat uses approximately 80-100g (50g of each colour) of DK. The size of the shawl is adjustable, as instructions for casting off are given according to the remaining quantity of yarn left.
