The beautiful textured lines of this cowl were inspired by the Celtic mythology theme that was behind the creation of this stunning, light-reflecting blue yarn, "Beira".
In Celtic Mythology, the Cailleach is the goddess who created the Scottish mountains and lochs with her staff of power. The Cailleach cowl was therefore designed to illustrate the growing mountains and the flowing waters that gave birth to the landscape of Scotland.
This beautiful, soft and cosy cowl is knitted in the round from the bottom up, and only uses cleverly placed twisted stitches (no cables!) to achieve a lovely textured and decorative effect. It goes very well worn together with the Cailleach Hat!
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for convenience.
The hat measures approximately 32cm x 18cm, using approximately 80g of Stewart Yarns Pitter Patter DK (85% SW Merino, 15% Nylon) in "Beira".
