During my 1A work term, I worked as a Mechatronic Engineer at a small start-up which designed hydrofoil electric boats. I took responsibility for designing a work bench, supporting the electrical drivetrain, as well as assembling it. The drivetrain itself consisted of fifty-six batteries, adding up to 96V with a corresponding motor, BMS, and other controlling electronics.
For this project, I:
Researched and constructed double-layer wooden work benches from scrap wood
Modeled everything in solidworks before assembly began
Created an intricate plan to layout the various electronics such as BMS, batteries, charger, motor, liquid cooling system, power converters, and much more
Assembled and organized the connections as well as the wiring for the electronic components
Documented safety concerns and created accessibility for coworkers
