Reflection - 3d Using Assessment for Learning
The virtual learning environment makes assessment for learning much easier for students as there are numerous open source applications to 'gamify' and engage them. Ones that I have used includes: Quizziz, Kahoot, Quizlet, Padlet, Nearpod, Pear deck, Edpuzzle, Google forms, Flipgrid and Poll everywhere. These platforms enables students to submit responses through a variety of media to include written response, audio, or video recordings.
At the start of each lesson students are pre-assessed for prior knowledge of the topic which is used to inform how and what I present. There is formative and summative assessment built into all lesson and daily students gets an opportunity to self-assess and identify successes and needs by way of an exit ticket. Throughout the lesson students utilizes the chat feature to share their thoughts, answers and reactions as is necessary.
As part of the class routine students will get a poll or quick quiz intermittently throughout the synchronous lesson to gauge understanding of topics or concepts. There is also schedule check-in times called 'check and reflect' for individual students or groups of students during designated office hours.
