Knowledge constructors standards in unit planning is important especially in today's varied modalities that as shifted away from traditional methods. PBL units are typically planned for students to collaborate with their teachers and employ appropriate research techniques to locate digital resources. This help them in their learning process as student research to find credible and reliable information. The educator uses a variety of strategies, knowledge constructors to organize information and make meaningful connections between resources. The has the knowledge constructor standard requires students to understand and contextualize online information.
Another important aspect of PBL unit planning is to get students to think critically and understand what is happening in the real world. They need to know that only content does have intentional and accidental misinformation which they should be able to recognize. As stated in the ISTE standard, students "evaluate the accuracy, perspective, credibility and relevance of information, media, data or other resources."
