Project authentic assessments are an approach used to assess student's performance instead of traditional methods such as a multiple choice test. Students are expected to illustrate and apply what they have determine their level of competency.

Projects challenge students to produce something instead of reproducing knowledge. Projects also provide students with opportunities to establish criteria for determining the quality of the planning and design processes, the construction process, and the quality of the completed project.
Projects allow students to demonstrate a variety of skills including communication, technical, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills and give students fosters positive outcome that includes:
Communication - ideas are expressed clearly and effectively.
Collaboration - common goals are achieved through teamwork.
Knowledge application - links are made across different areas and enhanced knowledge.
Independent learning - enable self-directed learning and reflection while making improvements.
