Essential nutrients are nutrients that our bodies need for survival, however, the quantity our body produces of these nutrients are not enough to allow us to be healthy. Therefore, we must find other ways to ensure our body receives sufficient amounts of these nutrients. To do so, we must consume foods which contain these nutrients. These six essential nutrients are: protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals, and water. These essential nutrients can be split into two groups: micronutrients and macronutrients.
When you're done watching the video above and reading through the key functions of the 6 essential nutrients, watch this short 1 minute video on the difference between micronutrients and macronutrients.

Now that you've finished watching these two videos and reading through the key functions, read the subtopic pages on "micronutrients" and "macronutrients" found in the navigation bar under "Topics" > "Topic 2" OR click on the underlined words below and you will be redirected to their pages.
Micronutrients are nutrients we require to carry out our bodily functions, but we intake them smaller amounts. Examples of micronutrients are vitamins and minerals.
Macronutrients are nutrients our body needs to intake in large amounts. Examples of macronutrients are carbohydrates, lipids, protein, and water.
