Bike Repair Volunteer Workshop

Here is the livestream recording from the volunteer workshop Cranky held in Berkeley:

Blair from Cranky's Bike Shop says: Here are some YouTube videos for bike repair, and comments. I liked these because they are short and concise videos. Folks wanting a deeper dive can view the Park Tools Youtube series for specific topics of interest.

Basic: Flat Fixing

Basic: Chain Repair

Note: Chains are different link sizes; make sure the quick link is the right one. Cranky's stocks 'em all.

Special Note: WD40 IS NOT LUBE. You can always point a can of WD40 at a chain and watch Cranky react, just for fun.

Basic: v-Brake Adjustments

Pro Tip: Make sure the rear brake engages the rim slightly before the front does so our customers don't spill their drinks.

Advanced: Shimano Rear Derailleur

advanced: cruiser bottom bracket bearings part 1

We never see them this clean so there are 2 videos (see below)

Advanced: Cruiser bottom bracket part 2

Rusted All To Hell. Still in better shape than we see them, typically they come out in chunks, or what Cranky calls Shrapnel. Run a rag around the empty bottom bracket to pick up all of the metal slivers. Careful with this so we don't have to go looking for Tetanus shots.
