The supportive resource packets provided as part of this DEx project were created by this WNE OTD DEx group and distributed to Megan Hopper, OTR and Lisa Pasternak, OTR. After consulting with these professionals, it was determined that the provision of supportive resources and developmental activities to be used in therapy sessions and distributed to parents would help to alleviate some of the stressors placed on these key players due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These packets were intended to help children and parents continue meeting therapeutic goals, provide ample developmentally appropriate ideas for at-home activities, and give health professionals resources to use when completing telehealth therapy, developing home exercise programs, or consulting with parents. The hope is that they will continue to be of use in the future, after the pandemic has ended.
There was a particulat focus on providing resources and activities that could be done with typical household items, with special consideration given to the socioeconomic status of many in the Springfield, MA. Materials provided span ages birth - 12 years old, with many opportunities to adapt the activity for different ages and developmental needs.
