Because of the rapid transition to telehealth service delivery, and the abrupt disruption of typical routines for parents, children, and professionals, this WNE OTD DEx group decided to take on a consulting role for BHN and SPS. The ultimate goal of this project is to ease the psychosocial impact of stressors associated with this transition. In discussing this goal with Lisa Pasternak and Megan Hopper, it was determined that this WNE OTD DEx group could complete several activities in order to assist the sites, while also meeting personal and professional goals outlined in the Learning Plan and Evaluation for the DEx project.
This WNE OTD student, individually or in collaboration with her DEx team, completed several activities. These activities included:
Developing a comprehensive literature review of topics including collaboration, consultation, collaborative consultation, and developmental domains included in the supportive resource packets created,
Creating supportive resource packets as requested with developmentally appropriate activities for distribution to caregivers and health professionals,
Attending meetings with the WNE OTD DEx team, WNE OTD faculty members, site mentors, and staff at BHN and SPS,
Observing school-based and early intervention telehealth occupational therapy sessions,
Participating in ample professional continuing education offerings, and
Drafting and completing a survey for caregivers and health professionals in this population, interviewing key players including colleagues of her DEx site mentors Megan Hopper and Lisa Pasternak.
