Public Transport

  • The train pulled into the platform, and it was teemed with commuters on board. As soon as the door opened, the alighting commuters rushed out and others rushed in. It was warm and stuffy as usual and I had to elbow my way through the throng of people, enduring the stench of perspiring bodies.

  • A ear-splitting screech punctuated the air before the bus lurched forward violently and came to a sudden halt.

  • Hordes of exhausted commuters were packed cheek by jowl/shoulder to shoulder on the train platform.

  • The stifling air in the train carriage made me nauseated.

  • Passengers were fully absorbed in their electronic devices, oblivious to what was around them.
