Experiential Education

I consider it of utmost importance to provide students with as many experiential learning opportunities as possible. Put them in teams, present them with an interesting and relevant problem, and aid them in collaborating to achieve an effective solution. Targeted projects aligned with student interest and with clear deliverables should simulate the professional, post-graduation environment as closely as feasible.

Below are some examples of experiential projects that I helped to develop.

Gravesend Inn Haunted Hotel

  • Themed attraction, annual fall project
  • In production since 2000
  • Approx. 100 Entertainment Technology students participate to fabricate, program, install, maintain, run, and strike in a highly interdisciplinary, experiential environment

Collaborate!

  • Annual call for projects
  • City Tech students and faculty collaborate with external producing organizations on technologically-interesting production concepts.
