If you're already familiar with ARPGs, this game will have very few surprises for you. Most Yores come from genotypes, but we have an open species option for those who don't want to deal with design restrictions!
To get started, feel free to claim a Welcome Pack! You'll be able to get a mildly customizable geno, two breeding slots, several items, and some Gold to get you started!
The Dragons of Yore are the sapient, horse-sized descendants of great dragons of myth, learning to navigate a world which dragons no longer rule. While most yores understand human speech, few speak it, and their respective cultures are still adapting to living and working together.
Like most other Art RPGs, Yores are played through art! All skill levels are welcome, and visual art and literature are both welcome in the group.
Quests are the main 'roll' type of the group, and can encompass anything from task-oriented pieces to a yore's personal introspective; a variety of Prompts can be applied broadly to any art of your Yore to ensure you get rewards for how you enjoy playing the game!
Yore Dragons' genetics work on a simplified system based on real life genetics- each gene has a 50% chance to pass itself in a breeding. Some markings only appear with the presence of two or more genes!
Genes are referred to as Heterozygous and Homozygous, or het and hom for short. Hom markings will always pass themselves in het form in a breeding.
Limited genes function like markings, but have a chance to pass an undesirable trait if inherited in hom form- think of conditions like the spider wobble in ball pythons or lethal white in horses.
Aside from markings, Yorebeasts can show a variety of horns, crests, and coat types, and some sport small wings as well. These do not adhere so strictly to the 50% gene passrate! Other options, such as mutations which affect your Yore's marking colors, may occur randomly in breedings and eggs.
