For those players uninterested in the genetics sim portion of the game, you have the option to play with a free Yore, whose design is unbeholden to the genetics and marking system.
Every player may submit one Wild Yore to start. You do not need a proof of ownership, and you do not need to play before getting one!
A Wild Yore can be submitted to design approval (optional) and masterlist approval WITHOUT a 'geno' or proof of ownership, whereas a normal Yore would have parentage and a list of markings. This lets you skip the design rules and play with a character YOU want to draw! There are very few rules to a Wild Yore design, but there are a few:
Avoid eye strain. While design colors are not restricted by genetics, an overly neon Yore may be denied due to being painful to look at.
No pure black. Please keep the lineart darker than the design it sits on! Black colors may be asked to be lightened if they are too close to RGB(0,0,0).
No custom lineart. You may use the lineart provided in the import file, but please do not alter these lines. This includes physical traits which, on geno Yores, may be redrawn; for Wild yores they should use only the provided options.
Avoid 'color vomit'. While you are not required to use the defined markings, please do not submit a Yore with random blobs of color. Even chaotic designs should attempt to follow the anatomy of the import.
Avoid design copying. While this is a loose rule, designs which are clearly a port of a recognizable media or personal character may be denied. Loose reference is allowed, as are interpretations of characters without official visuals (podcast or book characters, etc.) Video game skins fall into this category but may be evaluated on a case by case basis. When in doubt, list your inspiration so we may assess whether your design is too close for comfort! "Porting" your own designs or designs you own is not covered by this rule, HOWEVER, if you choose to port a character this way, please be sure other species' rules do not prohibit this behavior.
You may use markings. Wild yores do not need to follow the group's genetics, but if you enjoy playing with the group's markings, you're welcome to put official markings on your wild yore! These do not need to follow the normal marking rules and color guide, unless you want to apply a geno to the design later. Design approval is entirely optional for all Wild yores, even if you do intend to convert them into the group's genetics.
Wild Yores function exactly the same way as geno Yores for Quests and other art activities! The main difference between the two origins is in the breeding and genetics portion of the game- Wild Yores do not have access to participating in breeding, as they have no defined genetics. You are welcome to design a Yore with genetics in mind, and apply an accurate geno to it later, instead of submitting a new Yore using that geno!
Every player may submit one Wild yore for free, before we ask for some effort to be put in to get another! When you're playing with a Wild Yore, you must raise it by one level before you may submit another Wild Yore.
