The Lithuvar men seem to be more cheerful from before when we started the patrol.
But as for me, I convince myself that this is only the beginning.

I was able to fend off the army of 80, but who knows how big the actual army is itself.
I need to return to the village right away.
So the village won’t be too worried, they positioned me in a spot where I can return to the village immediately.

If they sent another army to attack the village in a different direction, I might be too late.
I clearly underestimated the enemy’s scale.
I honestly thought there’d only be around 30 of them, in fact, I don’t think the army of 80 I drove off earlier was even the main force.

The more I think about it, the more I don’t get it…… what reason would anyone have to order an army as large as an Abyss nest to invade here.
I can’t prove anything yet since I don’t know what the enemy is really after.
If they just wanted to annihilate the Lithuvar Tribe out of spite, that would explain a few things, but…… the army I just fought showed no signs of holding any grudge.
That army of 80 might just be the recon squad.
If they are, then the incoming main force could be over a hundred.
Although, since many of them retreated from the fight, they might report about my existence and hopefully they’ll stop their advances.
A monster of my caliber isn’t something normal humans can deal with.
I bet if I had a rematch with that Hero from before, I’m confident I can easily beat him with the way I am now.

A high-pitched sound is heard, coming from the village.
I’ve heard this before.
It’s the Lithuvar Tribe’s whistle signal, their trouga.
So, the enemy did attack from another direction……

The Lithuvar men accompanying me heard the signal as well and they become worried.

“Gru~u……”

I growl at the Lithuvar men and they look at me as I turn towards the village.

“Ryujin-sama……?”
“You’re returning to the village, right? Then, we will also……”

I shake my head and dash towards the village, leaving them behind.

“Ryu, Ryujin-sama—!”
“A-At least take me with you! I want to help the village too……!”

Sorry, but I’ll be slowed down if you all ride on my back, and if we meet the enemy on the way and they target you, I won’t be able to keep you all safe……
I can’t afford to be weighed down……
There’s a chance that the survivors of that army of 80 might attack them, but…… if I stick around any longer, I might be too late to save the village.
With how scared they were in their retreat, they probably won’t dare to set foot in the forest again.
But enough of them, I should focus on returning back to the village as fast as I can.

I jump off the ground and fly to the sky.
I fly low, heading straight to the village.
My leg snaps a tall tree, so I rise up a bit.

There was heavy smoke coming from the village.
At that moment, my mind went blank.
No, don’t slow down.
Rage begins to well up inside me and I speed up.

Right near the village, a battle has already begun between a well-armed cavalry and the Lithuvar Tribe.
The enemy numbers up to 150, while the Lithuvar Tribe only has less than 80.

There were fallen horses that got their feet impaled by arrows.
There are also traces of pitfalls and deformed earth formations.
It seems like they used〖Clay〗to form pitfall traps and made the land uneven to slow down the horses while aiming their arrows at their feet to limit their mobility.

“Annoying cheap tricks!”

One of the enemy slashes a Lithuvar man’s spear in half with his sword.

Then, he reaffirms his stance and aims his sword at the Lithuvar man’s head.
But in the next instance, three arrows were shot to his sides.
There were Lithuvar archers hiding in a tree and waiting for their chance.

“W-, Why you……! Pathetic Barbarians!”

The enemy falls on his knees and grunts in pain.
The Lithuvar man takes that chance and pierces his neck with his spear.

They’re doing pretty well on their own out there, dividing themselves into teams like that and using the terrain to their advantage.

However, they’re clearly overwhelmed by the enemy’s numbers.
It’s only a matter of time before the tides turn against their favor.

I land on the battlefield, face the enemies, and release a loud〖Roar〗.
My roar echoes throughout a wide area and many enemies disarm their weapons.

“Ryujin-sama has returned!”
“With Ryujin-sama with us, this battle is as good as ours!”

The Lithuvar Tribe gets a major morale boost from my arrival, while the enemies all get flustered.

“The Lithuvar’s Dragon God is here!”
“Damn it, even though we’re having a hard time already……”
“It’ll be troublesome if it flies around, kill it first! Target its wings! Is the dragon subjugation squad not here yet?!”

The army I fought before numbered to 80.
Since there are 150 here…… does that mean they split into two groups?
There’s also the smoke coming from the village.
I can’t spend too much time here.
…… Are there over 300 of them?

“C-Captain Libras! Where are you going!”
“I’m retreating, what does it look like?! Papa never told me it would be this hard! This isn’t what I heard! And, what’s up with that dragon?! It’s not like anything the reports say!”

I turn to where the voices are coming and I see a young, chubby man wailing complaints and yelling at his subordinates.

“It’s common knowledge that monsters change appearance! You know Lord Tallmann hates people who flee from the enemy more than anything! If a captain like you runs away now, then us subordinates will…… y-you’re only saying that because you don’t know how frightening Lord Tallmann is!”
“I don’t care! My papa is Lord Tallmann’s personal friend! If I die, you’ll all be executed! Don’t you get it! I only came because Papa said so! But, this isn’t what I signed up for! This is all so messed up! I’m going home!”

…… Seems like not all squad captains are competent fighters.
He looks hopeless so I’ll just ignore him.
