Here we are, heading into week 3 of the season and it's at this point you're really evaluating your team. It's not just a 1 week fluke anymore, all of that offseason crap you read doesn't really matter anymore. Your tip is in. You here a slight moan. Is it a sound of bliss, that things are going good, that they feel good? OR is it a moan of pain, of anguish, of hurt. It's at this very moment you get to stop and make a decision. Are you gonna throw it in, balls deep? Or do you pull out, accept your fate in the situation, realize that the night of flirts really didn't help your case, and try to regroup for another day.
For your fantasy team, a few of you, myself included, you have a hell of a team. You're pumping into week 3 and you still haven't blown your load. Life feels good. You're happy, your winning games, and tweaking here and there.
For many of you, you still have a lot to figure out. Does it come down to poor offseason prep? Is it that your SQL server sucks? Are your players under performing? Did the damn media lie to you. If you fall into this category, i found the perfect video for you. It covers the Fantasy Draft Busts of the season so far. And because of some of you saying you hate reading, take a break and enjoy this quick video. Covers more than I could.
For many of you and your actual knowledge about Fantasy Football, maybe that is useful for you. For the rest of you, I'll get into the actual busts and surprises in a later blog. But for now...
TO THE PREDICTIONS...
Week 3 PREDICTIONS
Matchup of the Week
Jacksonville Jacks (0-2) vs C Dogs (2-0)
The reality of it is that this game has a lot on the line. While NFL is different than fantasy, those are the stats we have here. Since 1980, only 6 teams that have started their season 0-3 and made the playoffs for a whimsy 2.8%. On the other hand, 76.7% of the teams that start the season 3-0 make the playoffs. This game has REAL LIFE implications. So lets get into the nitty gritty.
QB - Matthew Stafford vs Tom Brady - Approximately 9 years separate these two QB's and that is about what their rank shows too, 20th and 29th respectively. While Stafford is not on the level he was last year, partly due to a tough week 1 performance vs the Bills, he still looks like he has life left and more importantly, his wife doesn't hate him. Tom Brady is without his two star receivers in a battle of old men with Aaron Rodgers. Look for Stafford to have his best game of the year. ADVANTAGE JACKS
RB - Barkley & Sanders vs Kamara & Conner - After sitting out last week, and horrible week 1 performance from the 1st round draft pick, we still ask the question...what is his role on the Saints offense with Jamis at the helm? James Conner is completely touchdown dependent, but he does find it often. He left last week's game with an ankle injury but is plausible this week vs a tough Rams D. Barkely underwhelmed last week after going OFF week 1, but even in a horrible offense, Barkley has fantasy appeal because...well he is the offense. Seriously. Name another decent player on the Giants offense. Sanders is attached to one of the best offenses in the game this year. ADVANTAGE JACKS
WR & FLEX - Chase, Cooper, & Allen vs Jefferson, Jeudy(or Burks) and Samuel - Last week I said I would take Jefferson over the other 3 guys combined. While he had an off week, I stand by what I said proclaiming he is top 3 WR's in the league. Unfortunately this week, the Jacks have a few other studs here. Keenan Allen, if he plays, should be in Miami for a possible shootout. Downgrade him slightly with Herbert's rib injury. Ja'Marr hasn't been like he was last year, but him and Cooper have a respectable floor with a potential to go off this week. Look for him to break out this week. Regardless, I like the duo of Jefferson and Samuel along with Burks this week. Jefferson looks to have a comeback game in an NFC North battle to decide really who's the best over there. Samuel has broke out this year and continues too. Lets call this a push - EQUAL
TE - While the rankings would say otherwise, Hockenson is the better TE here and at some point Dan Campbell will figure that out. Ertz has been a safety valve for Kyler this year but Hockenson is too good to not have a great game at some point - ADVANTAGE C DOGS
D & Kicker - Cowboys & Fairbairn vs Bucs & Succop - typically I hate the D & Kicker. But last week this was the difference maker. And it does make a difference again this week - ADVANTAGE C DOGS
I promise I don't hate you for picking against you 2 weeks in a row in the MOTW, but the Jacks got one coming eventually...
Prediction: Jacks
Ass Prediction: Hot dog
Victorville (1-1) vs The PP May Already Be Dead (0-2)
We hate to see the PP go too early, but he went onto the waivers and changed things up a bit. Maybe a new position might help him last longer. Jimmy G has to be an upgrade at the QB position and having football's #1 RB with Chubb and #4 TE in Everett (who the hell could have guessed that), there is some hope. There is upside all over PP, but the floor is so freaking low that he might as well turn that PP inside out and into a vagina. BBC or Vagina. You'll find out this week folks. Especially because Victorville comes in as arguably the most well rounded team in the league. Having a top 8 in every position puts you in a great spot, but the depth is scary. We know that the Indy defense won't slow Patty down, but will the blowout happen early enough that he can't put up enough points?
Prediction: PP w/ the BBC performance
Ass Prediction: Ville, the real BBC performance
Forklifts (1-1) vs Keegs (1-1)
Herbert, Ekeler & the boys vs Mr. Autodraft himself. Keegs has put up some NUMBERS this year led by the studs of Josh Allen, Mark Andrews, and Amon-Ra. Other players have been okay, but these studs have been able to carry him so far, and his team. The Forklifts tend to care for a more even approach, and will show it again this week in a tough and close matchup. I think this matchup really comes down to who plays better - Rashod Bateman or Mark Andrews, two players who look All-Pro next to Lamar Jackson. Belichick has a record of locking down young receivers. Mark for the win.
Prediction: Keegs in a close one.
Ass Prediction: Keegs
Throw Bombs, Bang Moms (2-0) vs Chris B Bacon (1-1)
Chris B Bacon is coming in with a full meatlovers omelet with an extra side of meat as he throws out the NFL leading duo of Lamar Jackson and Stefon Diggs. Both of these guys have looked UNSTOPPABLE this year and should continue to do so this week. Lamar continue his MVP train running all around NE's defense, showing he deserved a new contract before the year started. & Diggs works in a potential shootout where he PROVES he is WR1 in the NFL vs Hill & Waddle. but Bombs and Moms isn't 2-0 for no reason. Waddle looks to benefit in week 3 of having Hill take the main attention away from him & CMC finally has a chance to turn it on this week. In a matchup that talks about betting every week, we may have something else to bet on.
Prediction: Throw Bombs, Bang Moms
Ass Prediction: Bombs, unfortunetly
SQL Server (1-1) vs Edawg (1-1)
FUN FACT - Edawg is the ONLY team in the league to not make a single move to his drafted roster. Does he believe in his team, or is it poor managing? We'll find out this week as he starts projected down 12.4 points in this matchup to SQL - squirrel 🐿 Jalen Hurts looks electric in year 3 and going against the leagues 2nd worst D, looks poised for another big week. The big questions for SQL are: 1. Is Kittle actually back!? 2. Can Cook eventually start cooking? Or is he gonna be the sous-chef all season and be a little b****. Kirk also makes his first appearance in the starting lineup, so ya know, maybe the managing skills are improving. EDAWG is home to studs from last year, but guys that have yet to break out this year. Did they bust, or are they, ya know, just waiting around to scare you? The Jets have the 22nd ranked defense, so this could be a great week for Burrow and Mixon to get going. Look for Sutton to catch a bunch of Balls and Scary Terry to find the endzone, but it's still not enough.
Prediction: 🐿
Ass Prediction: Squirtle
Saving Private (Matt) Ryan (1-1) vs Lake Erie Elves (1-1)
While we all hate the elves, we can all appreciate a good name change and to go from the Aeros to the Elves is a huge upgrade. Still waiting on this elf to give out some cookies. Mike Evans being out of the lineup is a big loss for the Elves, but they likely wanted to start Hunt anyways. Can the browns good offensive line and bad offense still produce two solid running backs every week, or will there be busts? & we all KNEW that Zeke was a scary pick this year, but ranking 47th right now is still much lower than the Elves could have predicted when they took him at 30th overall. Not sure there's much hope. Saving Private Matt Ryan is hoping Swift is back from his ankle issue that had him limited on snaps last week. But for year 2 there have been struggles at the QB position. Much like the actual Colts, instead of finding a stud, they go back to a guy that might be able to plug a hole but you don't know how much he can really offer you. This one could really go either way. But i like we had Aaron on the podcast last week. Hoping that it brings good luck to who we have on.
Prediction: Saving Private (Matt) Ryan
Ass Prediction: Elves all the way becuase of the name change.
With Love, Commish
