The first day of school is August 25!
Every second Wednesday, teachers are expected to review gradebooks to ensure that grades are updated and accurate
Department Chairs will review gradebooks biweekly to ensure compliance
If gradebooks are not updated and accurate, the following steps will be taken:
1st Warning: Department Chair will send an email with deadline for when grades should be updated
2nd Warning: Grade level administrator will send an email with deadline for when grades should be updated
3rd Warning: If grades still have not been updated, the formal process will be initiated. Teacher will have a documented meeting with grade level administrator.
Accurate grade codes must be entered into gradebook
All assignments must be locked at the end of the marking period
Teachers must track assignments and their close dates using the Assignment Tracker that is to be posted in classrooms
Marking period grades must be based upon a body of evidence that is aligned to standards and expectations and that includes multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate what they know and are able to do. They must also be free from behavioral bias. A student's final grade will need to be substantiated through multiple assignments and assessment items. Teacher-developed assignments, class discussions, and project-based learning tasks can be utilized to elicit formative evidence of learning. Summative unit assessments, curriculum-based summative quizzes, and assessments developed by district teacher teams, building-level departmental teams, and/or teachers should be included in the body of evidence.
Effective Feedback
Give descriptive oral and/or written feedback during instruction
Align the feedback to "I can" statements and intended learning outcomes
Provide descriptive, non-evaluative feedback that leads to next steps
Feedback should be provided to all students receiving D's or E's on assignments
It is up to teacher discretion to provide feedback on assignments with higher student grades
Positive and constructive feedback is encouraged for all students no matter what the grade
Leaving comments on assignments
Gradebook bubble in the Schoology gradebook
Comments on specific questions in Schoology assessments
Written feedback on physical or virtual assignments
Written feedback on assignment rubrics
Messaging students directly with feedback or concerns
