The first day of school is August 25!
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities.
Targeted small group instruction provides a structured learning opportunity to reteach and reinforce key skills and concepts. Teachers can work more closely with students in order to evaluate students' strengths, identify gaps and personalize instruction to meet student needs. In order to determine student needs, teachers should analyze multiple assessment data in order tp plan specific instruction to address learning gaps. Students should receive immediate feedback to improve skills.
The goal of formative assessment is to monitor student learning and understanding during a lesson, unit, or course. This process helps us identify areas of improvement so that adjustments can be made to our instructional practices. We are committed to providing equitable, accurate, specific, and timely information regarding student progress towards agreed-upon common course expectations as well as feedback for next steps and growth areas.
