하나님은 우리에게 성경에 나오는 믿음의 조상들을 통하여, 역사적 상황을 통하여 그의 섭리를 보여주신다. 믿음의 조상들의 삶은 현대를 살아가는 우리들에게 조물주의 주권과 끝없는 은총과 사랑의 멧세지를 전해 준다. 그들이 살았던 당시의 상황과 유사함이 우리들에게도 전개된다. 기독교인이라면 삶의 굴곡과 때로는 예기치 못한 상황에서 결국 그들의 믿음을 따라 갈 수 밖에는 없다. 그런 의미에서 성경속의 인물을 표현코자 하는 마음은 나에겐 자연스런 선택이었다. -2020. 작가의 노트에서-

God shows us His providence through the ancestors of faith in the Bible and through historical circumstances. The lives of the ancestors of faith convey the sovereignty of the Creator and the message of endless grace and love to us living in the present age. Similarities to the situation at the time when they lived are unfolding to us as well. Christians have no choice but to follow their beliefs in the twists and turns of life and sometimes unexpected situations. In that sense, the desire to express the characters in the Bible was a natural choice for me.

2015년도의 예수님의 수난의 길 연작에 이어 십자가 고난 연작을 하였다. 십자가에 달려 돌아가심을 생각하며 그 고난에 내가 조금이라도 동참할 수 있는가? 주님의 가르침에 더 다가갈 수 있는가? 하는 물음을 스스로 해본다.

갈릴리바다를 주제로 하여 많은 작업을 하였으나 2019년도의 작품들은 좀 더 구상적인 요소의 표현을 통해 더욱 성경의 사실적인 면에 도달코자 하였다. 말씀과 가르침, 이적과 그의 사랑과 자비 그리고 우리에게 베푸는 은혜를 따뜻하고 밝은 색채로 조합하여 화면을 구성하였다.

이 작품을 통해 갈릴리바다 처럼 험한 세상을 살아가는 우리들에게 영원한 평안에 이르는 생명의 말씀을 늘 생각케 해 주시고 우리의 죄를 사해 주신 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜에 감사드리며, 맡겨진 소명에 정성을 다하며 겸손한 마음으로 살아가기를 기도드립니다. -아멘

The Sea of ​​Galilee is one of the most important places in Jesus' ministry. Jesus called his disciples from the fishermen on the shore of the Sea of ​​Galilee (Matthew 4: 18∽22), and while walking along the shore of Galilee, he saw his brother, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, throwing nets into the sea. Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Soon they left their nets and followed Jesus. They went further there, and two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, made a net in the boat with his father Zebedee. When he saw that, he called, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Jesus. He also taught many words and healed the sick in the synagogue of Capernaum on the Sea of ​​Galilee. It is also the place where the storm was calmed down and the signpost to walk over the sea was performed. In the Bible, the Sea of ​​Galilee is one of the important places for Jesus' ministry.

Although I did a lot of work on the subject of the Sea of ​​Galilee, the works of 2019 tried to reach a more realistic aspect of the Bible through the expression of more conceived elements. The screen was composed by combining words and teachings, miracles, his love and mercy, and the grace given to us in warm and bright colors.

Through this work, we are grateful for the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, who always reminded us of the words of life leading to eternal peace and forgave us of our sins. I pray for life. -Amen
