Troll

Trolls (aka trollkind) are a diverse sapient race and can be found in every part of the world. The are medium sized creatures which usually have a very tall and athletic build. As with other races, there are also scattered trolls who far exceed the normal size range.

Trolls are often tall, lanky, and muscular. They have both elven and orcish characteristics with their fierce horns and long ears. Their long arms, strong legs and quick reflexes make them adept hunters. Trolls rarely wear shoes or boots and find comfort in wading barefooted within different terrains.

Trolls are slightly monstrous in appearance. Skin color varies greatly based on subspecies Trolls are divided up into different groups depending on which environment they have adapted to.

The forest trolls' bodies can support plant life to a limited extent due to a mutation that took place many millennia ago. A thin layer of moss will inevitably grow on the skin of a forest troll shortly after they are born, giving them their characteristic green coloring. Their moss-like skin color ranges from light green to blue and purple. However, the jungle and dark trolls' bodies are covered in a short, soft fur which cause the trolls to appear purple or gray or light blue.

Although enough physical damage will kill them, forest trolls can regenerate lost limbs and heal grievous physical injuries at an accelerated rate, giving them a large advantage in battle. Trolls are so well known for their regenerative abilities that alchtroemical mixtures, which induce regeneration in other races, are referred to as "troll's blood potions," despite not actually containing any troll blood. Militant tribes of trolls are efficient killers and have a strong lust for blood. Some may still cling to their heritage of voodoo however they did give up cannibalism when joining the modern world.

The trolls don't consider technology a science, but another form of magic. To them, crafting a technological device is another way of creating a talisman or charm, only with more steps. Harnessing steam power is an alternative means of binding air and water spirits to do one's bidding. Steppe Trolls have embraced technology beyond the rest of the trolls and have a natural affinity to it as a result.

Most troll inventions involve the use of natural and alchemical components combined with scientific applications. trolls don't specialize in any particular area, as orcs do with weaponry. Instead, trolls study whatever scientific application seems the most interesting. Some trolls claim the spirits speak to them in dreams, suggesting new ways they can be called upon by technology. Troll inventions include the poison extractor, swampwalker shoes, and dart grenade.

Trolls have a characteristic way of speaking. Words like "yo" (a greeting) and "mon" (man) are common expressions. They speak with varying accents that resemble that of Jamaicans and Cubans. Cuban-sounding accents are more common among forest trolls.

Recent Troll History:

The trolls are actually Immigrants from another plane, they tell stories that they fled to this world from somewhere else, with no homeland of their own they were given the island of Seleni near Kyouringakure, by the previous Kage, Jorian's Father, however their were some stipulations to this treaty including the immediate halt to cannibalistic activities.

The island was split into zones for each tribe to call their own and live in relative peace, However with the advent of artificial Environments the Ice and Desert trolls moved into Kyouringakure and sold the land back to the humans. They moved into the Ice and Sand Districts when its artificial Environmental Control Systems were brought online. The humans allocated the land to the island trolls who are the most recent troll subtype to emerge as a result of living peacefully in the land of machines and interbreeding with humanity, they live in a large village that was once the two territories of the Desert and Ice trolls and they serve as the meeting place for all the tribes to discuss matters affecting all the tribes.
