What is a Tamiya Tracked Vehicle?
The Tamiya vehicle is a robot that uses sensors on it's front to navigate though a rocky terrain. This aims to emulate a real-world situation where autotomous robots can be used in disasterous areas for search and rescue without the endangerment of more humans involved.
Step 1: Build Robot
To start, the robot needed to be built. We built our tracked vehicle with a wooden base for stability, tread-wheels to easily move over obstacles, a breadboard for circuitry, and 2 antenna-like sensors on the front. This led to the robot being sturdy while also being able to move efficiently. The sensors were used to track it's path and avoid obstacles.
Step 2: Calibrate/Code
The next step was to code the robot and sensors in order for the robot to achieve its goal. We coded it to constantly move forward, only turning either left or right if an antenna was touched. We vibe-coded the robot to achieve these tasks and implemented the code into the robot to achieve it.
Step 3: Testing
To test the robot, we put it on a course with rough terrain where it would need to go through a maze of sorts. This would test its ability to function through a harsh environment, leading to a favorable result. In the end, it was able to achieve this goal.
