Introduction
In a mysterious mansion, a lone “visitor” awakens in endless darkness, armed with nothing but a night-vision camera to light the way.
As the “visitor,” you must explore its eerie halls and find a way to escape this treacherous mansion... before it’s too late.

What's My Part?
Contribution: Lead Programmer, Animation Design, Gameplay Design.
“PTD: The Mansion” is the first game I have developed entirely on my own. From designing the core gameplay concepts to implementing game features and building the overall code architecture, every part of the development was handled independently.
The art assets and sound effects used in the game are sourced from free resources or assets I previously purchased from the Asset Store. The most important element—the camera—was specially commissioned, with modeling and design assistance provided by MaRuey.
For this project, I also challenged myself by creating the animations personally. All character and enemy movement animations seen in the game were fully animated by me.
The Origin of the PTD Series
The Playable Technical Demo (PTD) is a planned series of future game projects focused on creating experimental gameplay experiences. The main goal of the PTD series is to explore and prototype different game concepts, testing new ideas through playable builds.
These concept prototypes are not intended for commercial purposes. Instead, they exist to evaluate whether each gameplay idea is engaging and fun. As a result, each prototype is designed to be relatively short, with an average playtime of around 20–30 minutes.
“PTD: The Mansion” marks the starting point of this series. Its purpose is to test whether the core gameplay of the classic horror game Outlast remains enjoyable and effective in a fully VR environment.
Gameplay Design
In the game, players explore a dark environment where visibility is limited to faint ambient light or the night-vision camera held in their hands. Although the experience takes place in a fully immersive VR space, players are restricted to viewing their surroundings through the 2D screen of the night-vision camera.
“PTD: The Mansion” does not feature a large number of enemies by design. This choice was made to test whether dark, confined environments alone can bring a sense of fear driven by the unknown. While a few staged jump scares are included, the game can be completed entirely through puzzle-solving, without enemies chasing after you.
Of course, that’s just between us. Don’t let the players know 🤫.
