Introduction
In 2024, the 10th anniversary of Han Pao-Teh’s passing is commemorated with a series of exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture (MOC). As part of this initiative, the National Museum of History presents a special calligraphy exhibition that showcases the full breadth of Han Pao-Teh’s artistic expression, aiming to expand the impact of the overall commemoration.
Calligraphy was one of Han Pao-Teh’s many achievements—not only a form of textual expression, but also an extension of his spatial sensibilities and a narrative of beauty. This exhibition highlights a selection of his research and practice in calligraphy, allowing visitors to experience the powerful strokes of his writing and the aesthetic sensibility of architectural design. Through this fusion of disciplines, visitors are invited to discover personal inspiration and insight.
This is a simple interactive experience: visitors can use a control panel to explore the history and content of Han Pao-Teh’s calligraphy through clicks and gestures. They can also engage in creative play by pasting Han’s characters freely onto a digital canvas. Once finished, their creations are uploaded to the cloud and turned into commemorative images, which can be downloaded to their mobile devices via QR code as a personal keepsake.

"Drawword" is an interactive kiosk that uses a touchscreen for user interaction. In addition to reading the exhibition introduction, visitors can create commemorative postcards by pasting decorative stamps and elements onto a digital canvas.
This project marked my first experience using the Google Cloud API to save visitor creations to the cloud, allowing them to easily download and keep their artwork.
Interaction
Visitors can use the touchscreen to click and explore information about Han Pao-Teh's calligraphy and texts. They can also use Han Pao-Teh's characters to freely create and arrange designs on the canvas.
Once the creation is complete, the device uploads the visitor's artwork to the cloud and generates a commemorative image file. Visitors can then download it to their mobile devices via a QR code as a keepsake.
