Traffic Licensing Regulation (741.51)
Article 11, paragraph 3:
Concerning the identification: Currently, a first applicant must go in person to the road traffic offices for the identification
A digital identification is not possible at the time with the current regulations
If the identification process should be digital, then the framework must be changed
Article 11 must be changed in order to implement a digital identification process
Electronic Identity (e-ID)
Federally recognized electronic identity (e-ID)
Currently, there is no legal regulation for digital identity
Therefore, the Federal Council and the Swiss Parliament have drafted a law as the basis for a federally recognized electronic identity, the e-ID
The law has been subject to a referendum, which will be held on March 7, 2021
The new law regulates how people are uniquely identified on the Internet to order goods or services easily
The E-ID is voluntary and can be requested at a federally recognized e-ID provider
