Course Name: POWER PLANT ENGINEERING

Credit Hour: 3

Sources of energy, production of power, types of power plants, coordination of different types of power plants, survey of power plants in Bangladesh.

Power plant economics: the variable load problem, base load plants and peak load plants, economic analysis of power plants, theory of rates.

Diesel-electric power plant, Gas turbine power plant, Thermal power plant, Hydro-electric power plant and Nuclear power plant.

Course Outcomes (COs):

1. Explain categories of power plants, loads, power plant factor, demand factor etc., draw load curves

2. Explain power generation technologies, source of energy, boiler and type of Power Plants including steam turbine power plant, gas turbine power plant, engine power plant, combined cycle power plant, hydraulic power plant, nuclear power plant etc.

3. Analyze and calculate efficiency of boiler, turbine, individual power plants and combined power plants

4. To present different cycles of power generation system
