Course Name: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DRAWING I

Orthographic projection: Six principle views: Top, Front, Right, Left, Rear and Bottom; Glass box approach of orthographic projection; First and Third angle projection; Different types of lines, their uses and their precedence in drawing; Convention of orthographic drawing.
Dimensioning Standard: Use of dimension; Components of linear dimension: dimension line, extension line, arrowhead and dimension text; Unidirectional and aligned dimensioning methods; dimensioning arc, circle, fillet and round; Rules and practices of dimensioning.
Isometric view: Isometric projection; Rules and practices of isometric drawing.
Section view: Cutting line; Cutting Plane; Different types of sections; Section lining; Rules and practices of section view.
Introduction to AutoCAD: Introduction of AutoCAD work environment; Use of GRID, ORTHO, SNAP tools; Drawing of line, poly line, circle, rectangle, Editing of drawing using trim, offset extend tools; Linear and circular dimensioning in AutoCAD.
