As a SCIT, I show I believe all students can learn by remaining persistent and open to trying different approaches. I recognize that no two students are the same, so it's important to adapt based on individual needs. For example, I’ve learned that while cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can be effective, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. When something doesn’t work, I explore other methods to connect with and support the student. This flexibility reflects my commitment to helping every child grow in a way that works for them.
I set and support positive expectations by leading through example and creating a safe, compassionate environment. I consistently encourage students to express themselves respectfully and reassure them that it’s okay to talk to adults about their feelings. I also help students understand the importance of boundaries; just as adults set them, children should feel empowered to do the same with their peers. This balance of empathy and structure helps guide students toward personal and academic success.
