The mayor and justices of Verton, chosen and elected on the day of Pentecost 1615 and ending on the same day in 1616, recognizing how urgent and necessary it was to have a register to record ancient and other customs that may hereafter be subrogated in the future for the benefit and profit of the bourgeoisie of said Verton, the rents owed to them, those that they also owe, together with the ordinances and notices of our sovereign princes, both ancient and other, that may be sent to us in the future, have had this present register made for the purposes stated above (1).
On the second page of this present book will be written the names and nicknames of the mayor, lieutenant, aldermen, dean, foresters of woods and fields, and inspectors of meat and bread who are created annually and on the ordinary day at this establishment for the police of the said Bourgeoisie.
