This day 19th in the year 1669 before us Claude Marchal mayor of Verton Jacq de Couvier lieutenant Michel Billy Jean Gerard Jean Richy Claude Gaspar Anthoine Jaminet Jean Fran when all aldermen exercise justice in the said Verton and Matthieu Gillet our sergeant appeared Henry Enselle one of our bourgeois informs us that he obtained permission from my lord the president and people of the chamber of account of his Mats in Brabant to be able to erect a sawmill in a place in the loing du russeux above 1 the banal mill of Verton where there was a powder mill 2 with the course of the waters of the said russeau together with the small place of pas quit 3 dependent on this powder mill where the powders were dried for a rent of one cent and an annual rent of three florins per year and that for the assurance of the rent he is obliged to give a good mortgage to the modern receiver of his Mate of Verton and S Mard to the effect of which the said Henry Anselle has also informed us that he constitutes assigned and mortgage for the assurance of the said rent the above property belonging to him to be able to take back in the name of his Mate for the payment thereof and the arrears if it happens that there would be any obligatory to the same two gardens belonging to Jacq Michel his father-in-law, this garden divided and located near the common mill of the said Verton Royer Margueritte Mathieu called Poncellet on the one hand and Jean de Chanoy on the other hand, which Jacq Michel has also informed us that he freely and voluntarily ceded to the said Henry Anselle his son-in-law to act as hypothec and con trepends with the de sierie for the payment of the susde rent in 1 Lack of the copyist it is below 2 Virton being fortified had a powder factory 3 This place is still called the Paquis
