"The whole reason for our school transformation, making PBL a primary driver for instruction, was to meet the needs of all our students. [We had many] students who were left behind before we began with our PBL implementation. Years prior to our work with New Tech Network (NTN), we had classrooms with teachers dispensing knowledge and kids “sitting and getting” which worked for only a small percentage of students. We tell a different story today. Our CAASPP data (California state test) documents the significant progress our students have made, and we credit PBL with that success."

"In 2014, Bryan Adams High School was already an academically competitive school. Their motivation to transform was rooted their commitment to not just prepare students to “test into” the next stage in life — but to fully realize the promise: 100% of Bryan Adams students will graduate with the skills and confidence to seek and solve complex problems in the world."

"To maintain the integrity of PBL, each grade level has modified their lessons to embed benchmark assessments. Length and intensity of projects vary depending upon predetermined testing windows. Teachers have the autonomy to utilize the scope and sequence and have found creative ways to backwards plan benchmarks to assess both the targeted skills and strategies of the scope and sequence and current project outcomes. These benchmark assessments, performance tasks, project rubrics, and/or products allow for authentic assessment of student outcomes via the project and the scope and sequence targeted skills and strategies."
