We have taken a sample, and decided whether or not you can make the call about there being a difference between the two groups.
Now you need to answer your investigation question by rewording it into answer, which uses the information from the sample to make an inference about the population.
The conclusion is valid for the population that has been sampled.
If two people took a sample of heights from different Year 11 classes:
Would they have the same data?
Would their summary statistics be exactly the same?
Would their dot plots and box plots look the same?
How different would they be?
These are some of the ideas we need to think about when trying to form a conclusion or make an inference about our data.
